Our Programs
All initiatives below are “Phase 1” concepts—under development for launch in the 2025-2026 academic year. Your support will help us transform these ideas into enduring traditions that strengthen every Citadel NROTC Midshipman.
Scholarship and Micro-Grant Fund
Invest directly in student success.
What it is: A rolling micro-grant and tuition-gap scholarship fund for Cadets and Midshipmen who face unexpected financial hurdles (books, certification fees, emergency travel, etc.).
How it works: Award cycles each semester; requests vetted by an alumni–staff panel to ensure need and merit.
Pilot goal: $15 k endowed by Spring 2026 to cover at least ten $1 500 micro-grants.
Impact: Keeps future Naval and Marine officers on track to commission—free from distracting financial stress.
Leader-to-Leader Mentoring
Pairing tomorrow’s officers with today’s leaders.
What it is: A structured, six-month mentoring track that matches Midshipmen with veteran officers, industry executives, and distinguished alumni.
Phases:
360º Leadership Self-Assessment
Monthly Goal-Oriented Sessions (ethics, decision-making, career planning)
Capstone “Leader Shadow Day”—mentees spend a day on-site with their mentor.*
Pilot cohort: 10 mentees / 10 mentors starting Fall 2026.
Need: Travel stipends & program materials (~$4 k) plus volunteer mentors.
*Shadow days occur during academic breaks to avoid conflict with military training.
Morale & Heritage Events
Honoring tradition, building esprit de corps.
Flagship events in planning:
Citadel Navy-Marine Corps Birthday Ball (Nov 2025)
Heritage Night Speaker Series (quarterly alumni & Gold Star family presentations)
Family Day “Sea-Service Showcase” (Spring 2025 static displays & STEM booths)
Why it matters: Shared history and ceremony foster the pride, cohesion, and professionalism we expect from Naval officers.
Ways to help: Event sponsorships, in-kind venue support, or volunteer roles (decor, photography, guest coordination).
Service-Through-Service Projects
Leadership learned through action.
Mission: Connect Midshipmen to high-impact community projects that align with Navy-Marine values (coastal conservation, veteran outreach, STEM tutoring).
Structure: Foundation supplies mini-grants ($250-$500) for project supplies, transport, and safety gear; Cadets lead planning & execution.
Metrics: 100% Midshipman participation in at least one service project prior to commissioning; 2 000+ community hours annually by 2027.
Current need: $5 k seed funding and local partner recommendations.
